Are you refreshing a finish, concerned about water entry, or looking to address a joint or gap? Explain the issue first so the proposed work can be assessed against your actual needs.
Describe what you have observed
Tell us where you see the problem, when it appears, and whether previous repairs have been attempted. If you have product records or photographs from earlier work, keep them available for the assessment.
Ask what the proposed treatment addresses
Before agreeing to work, ask which surfaces or joints are included, what preparation is proposed, and what limitations apply. A painting quotation should not be assumed to include leak repairs or waterproofing unless those works are explicitly described.
Get the details in writing
Confirm the scope, materials, access requirements, and any written warranty terms that actually apply. Where the cause of a problem is uncertain, further investigation may be needed before a suitable treatment can be recommended.
